LINEBACKER

It has been well-documented that the linebacker position is in for a full-on position battle as veterans Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune graduated at the end of the 2023 season where they are testing the waters as they hope to achieve their lifelong dream of playing professional football.

Linebackers coach Randy Shannon will have his hands full in bringing along the young options on the roster such as Blake Nichelson, Shawn Murphy, Justin Cryer, and DeMarco Ward. Luckily, Florida State defensive coordinator Adam Fuller utilizes a 4-2-5 defensive scheme which only asks two linebackers to be out there for covering the middle of the field and stopping the run effectively.

Besides veteran DJ Lundy, there have not been many options on the roster who have had significant collegiate experience. Overall, I am excited about the positon room and I know that Coach Shannon will have them ready to go since he does a nice job with developing talent on the roster.

However, with so many options in the room that are in the same boat without having much experience, I wonder how the linebacker position will shape out. Could the Seminoles even bring in a veteran option via the transfer portal to help stabilize the linebackers?
