FSU football is known as "DBU," and the legacy has been restored in the last couple of years. The FSU secondary led college football with the lowest completion percentage allowed in 2023. They also led the nation in pass breakups. One of the best contributors to the FSU secondary in the last couple of seasons was Renardo Green. Most folks expected Green to get selected in the middle rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, the San Franciso 49ers selected Green in the second round with the No. 64 overall pick.

Renardo Green isn't flashy, and his NFL Combine performance demonstrated it, but he is an excellent cornerback who shut down several wide receivers, notably first-round selections Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. from LSU in the past couple of years. Green had 43 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and led the team with 13 passes broken up. He also had one interception in 2023. Green lists at 6'0" and 186 pounds and ran a 4.49 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and a 37.5" vertical jump.

What is San Francisco Getting?

Green is fundamentally sound and strong for his size, with the ability to mirror opposing wide receivers with ease. He rarely gets beat by double moves and doesn't panic if he gets beat. He's also physical against the run game, as most FSU fans remember his tackle against Jayden Daniels in 2022, where he hit him with a spinebuster. San Francisco got a guy with a tremendous work ethic and a quiet leader. He will make an impact early and likely play in the NFL for a long time.

San Francisco was a great team last year, winning the NFC Championship, so Green goes to a team with a chance to win early. It'll be fun seeing him compete on the west coast against Jared Verse and Braden Fiske with the LA Rams.
