Pat McAfee gives FSU the nod to avoid a Clemson sweep on College GameDay

Somehow, the FSU-Clemson game made the picks segment of the ESPN College GameDay today. Even Desmond Howard was a little confused by this.

But regardless, if only to give Howard, Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit and guest picker Patrick Mahomes a chance to talk about how disappointing both teams are, the game did make the cut and the crew by large seems to be sticking with Clemson.

McAfee likes what he sees from the Seminoles

The consensus was that Clemson was going to play hard for coach Dabo Swinney, who has been going through it over the past week. Herbstreit said he expects a big game from Cade Klubnik and if the injury report is correct, the Clemson quarterback won't deal with much of a pass rush.

McAfee, however, saw the Seminoles wipe out Wake Forest last week and believes that FSU might've found something in the 42-7 homecoming weekend.

"Give me Florida State to get the win in Clemson."

At least one guy still believes in the 'Noles. Also credit to College GameDay for actually bringing in a quality guest picker this week instead of some shirtless podcast/comic or some country singer named 'Dale''.

ACC Huddle analysts were split on game

Up the channel guide a little bit, the ACC Network's spotlight preview show was in Virginia and actually landed former Cavalier and NFL Pro Bowler Chris Long as a great picker.

Long was great, and he jokingly forbid his sons, Waylon and Luke, from picking Clemson, but Waylon picked the Tigers anyway while Luke honored his Dad's wishes and picked FSU.

Of course, Jimbo Fisher chose the Seminoles and added, "There's no way in hell I can pick Clemson. I've had too many heated moments with those guys. I'm going with the Seminoles."

The other panelists, Eric Mac Lain and Eddie Royal, both chose Clemson.

FSU snapped a nine-game conference losing skid last week against Wake Forest and will now try to win a game away from home for the first time since beating Louisville in the 2023 ACC Championship Game.
