One of Florida State's best players is leading teammates just how you'd envision

Leading how he should....will others follow is the question

A team’s success largely revolves around its best players and how they lead. Leadership comes in different varieties. Some players are vocal, others lead by example, and others have a mixture of both styles. The best players on the team must set and enforce the standard, but their effectiveness depends on their production.

For example, if a player talks a good game, but doesn’t have the production to match, whatever he says will fall on deaf ears because the players won’t respect it. Florida State wide receiver Duce Robinson would be a prime candidate to be an effective leader. He was highly productive last year, could have entered the NFL Draft, and is an FSU legacy.

Robinson has been exactly what you’d want in a leader early in spring workouts. FSU highlighted him on its social media channel last week:

FSU coaches need the team to be player led if they want things to change

One of the greatest things in the video was Robinson telling freshman linebacker Karon Maycock to “make sure you touch that line.” That’s a small thing, but it’s a standard that everyone needs to adhere to, and something that Maycock should be doing next year as a sophomore.

It’s all about the little things, and coaches can talk to the players all day, but ultimately, it’s on the players to lead one another. At the same time, you saw footage of Robinson winning his rep in one of the drills. A player showing the standard and holding everyone accountable is what FSU has been missing the last two years.

Here's to hoping more upperclassmen are doing the same thing to get these guys to want to play for one another. When a team has that type of brotherhood? Great things can happen.
