Florida State's 2023 recruiting class had so much potential at the wide receiver position with five-star prospect Hykeem Williams, four-star Vandrevius Jacobs, and three-star Goldie Lawrence.
Williams was supposed to be the leader of the pack, being the highest-rated of the bunch, but it took him some time to get adjusted to the collegiate game. During that offseason, various members of the media (who attended practice) discussed how dominant Vandrevius Jacobs looked and how they could see him play significant snaps early.
However, the former Vero Beach standout did not have the season that he wanted during his freshman year. As a result, in what most kids do nowadays, he ended up entering the transfer portal and enrolled at South Carolina.
Vandrevius Jacobs ends up committing to arch-rival Miami Hurricanes
The former four-star didn't have much of an impact in his first season with the Gamecocks, but he emerged as a serious weapon in the passing game for quarterback LaNorris Sellers in 2025, where he recorded 32 receptions for 548 yards and four touchdowns (according to ESPN Stats and Information).
Florida State had its own trio in 2025 that was productive, such as Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, and Lawayne McCoy (who is now in the transfer portal), so having Jacobs this year wouldn't have mattered much in the grand scheme of things.
To be honest, I thought this would be a true breakout season for Jacobs if he elected to stay with the Gamecocks in 2026 since LaNorris Sellers announced that he would be returning to South Carolina.
However, Jacobs decided to enter the transfer portal once again, and he committed to the Miami Hurricanes.

Miami is already gearing up to have another exceptional season in 2026 to follow up on this year. While the Hurricanes have Carson Beck as their signal-caller, and he will exceed his eligibility, they are looking to bring in Arizona State's Sam Leavitt to be their quarterback.
The Leavitt-Jacobs could be a scary sight to see in 2026 because the wide receiver will be looking to prove Florida State wrong for allowing him to enter the transfer portal after his first season. I hope that the Seminoles ensure that their defense will be ready for the task of stopping their offense when the time comes.
