Momma, there goes that man... Can FSU football use this speedster in 2025?

Micahi Danzy is a supremely good athlete for Florida State football.

Florida State football will open up its 2025 season opener versus the Alabama Crimson Tide on nineteen Saturdays. The newly-renovated Doak Campbell Stadium will have many Seminole fans, who are excited about trying to erase the 2-10 record last year.

The Seminoles want to change the narrative. It starts and ends with head football coach Mike Norvell, who made six coaching changes this offseason. This was a man who expressed his desire for continuity in years past.

Norvell handed the keys to the offense over to former UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn, with whom he has familiarity. Coach Malzahn has a track record of running the football early and often. He is known as a tremendous offensive innovator. It helps that he has beaten Alabama multiple times in his coaching career.

The offense will be something that the fan base is watching with quarterback transfer Thomas Castellanos. Plus, they added playmaking transfers such as Duce Robinson, Squirrel White, Randy Pittman Jr., and Markeston Douglas ("Reunited and it feels so good!").

While the newcomers get many discussions from the fan base, there are still some returning talents on the roster. In honor of there being nineteen Saturdays from kickoff, I want to talk about redshirt freshman wide receiver Micahi Danzy.

Danzy wears the No. 19 jersey number. The redshirt freshman is a native of Tallahassee, Florida, who was a former four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He is also a track star, where he ran a 46.14 in the 400-meter.

This is something that fans want to see translate on the football field, as speed is something that would be beneficial if Danzy can get out in the open field to change the scoreboard.

The coaching staff went to a full youth movement when the Seminoles' 2024 football season went into a downward spiral. One of the youngsters who played in a few games was Danzy.

He had his first opportunity versus Clemson, where they drew up on a wheel route. Unfortunately, Danzy dropped the pass. This could have been a reason to give up and throw in the towel, but the speedster did not waver.

The coaching staff called a similar wheel route concept in the contest versus Charleston Southern, and he converted on it this time. While I understand that it was against Charleston Southern, that has to be a huge confidence booster for the coaching staff to go back to him on a similar play.

Danzy switched from the running back position to wide receiver this offseason. I think that fits his play style more, plus the Seminoles have a ton of capable running backs that they could use. Danzy could be used on the outside, in the slot, and even in the backfield to match up with a linebacker.

The possibilities are endless if the coaching staff could use him properly in 2025.
