Florida State football wants to have a remarkable 2027 class. The Seminoles had a 2026 class, which emphasized the offensive and defensive trenches. The coaching staff will look to build on last year's version and make it even better.

Unfortunately, the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes will be breathing down the Seminoles' neck after competing in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Indiana.

Most fans thought that they would be all smoke and mirrors as they lost their second regular-season game and didn't make it to the ACC Championship Game once again. However, the Hurricanes proved that they belong in the discussion of college football's best under Cristobal.

Florida State claps back at Miam attempting to get four-star defensive back commit Mekhi Williams

Florida State has four commitments in its 2027 class, and fans know that opposing teams (especially rivals) will be trying to scoop them away from the Seminoles. One prospect that could be on the flip watch is four-star safety Mekhi Williams from Ruskin, Florida.

Williams was visited by Miami head football coach Mario Cristobal earlier in the week, and was seen striking up "The U" hand gesture in a photo on Twitter (X).

This could just be me being too prideful in my fandom, but I would never put up an opposing team's hand signal even if I were from the area. As we know, high school kids are different nowadays, especially with NIL (which we know that Miami isn't afraid to pay up).

Williams was greeted for a visit by Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell on Tuesday afternoon.

Norvell needed to stop the momentum of the Hurricanes in recruiting Williams. The talented defensive back has been committed to the Seminoles since March 2025. However, if Norvell continues to push in the recruitment, this will likely be a headache all the way until Early Signing Day for the prospect.
