Florida State's recruiting class for the 2027 cycle is sitting outside the top-25, which is very frustrating to the fan base that expects the Seminoles to be in the top-10. However, the reality of the situation is that Florida State has had six losing seasons in eight years.
There has to be some sort of success to show recruits, and Florida State has not accomplished that. Head coach Mike Norvell deeply cares about his players and even the high schoolers/transfers that he recruits, but it doesn't mean anything if the program isn't winning.
Norvell was on the verge of being fired last year after losing to Stanford on the road, but the administration decided to bring him back for the 2026 season. While I support those who wear the Garnet and Gold, the losing seasons have to end.
The recruiting class is trying to set up for an impactful summer of official visits, but the biggest elephant in the room will be who the Seminoles get at the quarterback position.
Florida State has not been the same at the position since the legendary Jordan Travis was under center. They tried their hand with transfers such as DJ Uiagalelei, Thomas Castellanos, and now Ashton Daniels. This cannot be something that high school prospects can point to.
Florida State gets bad news with four-star Champ Monds IV committing to Notre Dame
The Seminoles, unfortunately, got bad news on Friday, as four-star quarterback prospect Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV from Vero Beach, Florida, chose Notre Dame.

Monds IV had visited Florida State several times, and it even looked like the Seminoles were in the lead, but the signal-caller decided to take his first-ever visit to Notre Dame then the crystal ball prediction came in favor of the Fighting Irish.
While I realize that Florida State is in win-now mode this season, and none of this matters if they don't win in 2026, it has to be a kick in the face for Mike Norvell and the program. Three-star Logan Flaherty will likely be the option that they turn to in terms of finding a quarterback for their class.
