Mike Norvell has confidence in wide receiver Hykeem Williams's development
Florida State football finally got a victory over Charleston Southern. Don't get too excited, as the Buccaneers were a 1-10 FCS team that the Seminoles (who have only won one game going into Saturday afternoon).
The offense has been a disaster for the Seminoles this year. It started with the transfer of DJ Uiagalelei, and then when he suffered a season-ending injury, it became apparent that the unit was just not any good. Florida State ranks 128th in the FBS in points per game (15.8).
However, as we wrote before, the Seminoles saw positive strides in true freshman Luke Kromenhoek. I don't want to pump my chest about beating the mighty Buccaneers, but it could be a confidence booster for a Florida State team that will be playing their arch-rival Florida Gators.
The offense seemed to find success after the bye week, where they recorded 415 total yards. It might not seem like much against an FCS program, but here in the reality of where Florida State is, you have to be truthful to the fact that this offense has not been good this year.
One playmaker that I am excited about for the 2025 season is wide receiver Hykeem Williams. Head football coach Mike Norvell talked about Williams in Monday's press conference, where he stated the following: "He is still a true sophomore. He battled with an injury at the beginning of the year, but seeing him have a couple of big catches was good."
The former five-star prospect has dealt with adversities throughout his career at Florida State. However, he was able to put together two receptions for 35 yards and one touchdown versus Charleston Southern on Saturday.
I hope that the connection built between him and Kromenhoek can continue as the Gators come to town on Saturday night.
