Florida State football had playmakers on its team during the 2025 season, but the offense often sputtered when it reached the red zone, and it wasn't consistent enough. We all know that Duce Robinson is incredible, and Micahi Danzy is lightning fast.
However, head coach Mike Norvell is in charge of the play-calling duties in 2026 after previous offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn unexpectedly retired this offseason. Norvell will be in full control, as some individuals feel like his job is on the line next year.
Bringing back Duce Robinson for the 2026 season was noteworthy. The biggest question mark is who will be throwing the former USC transfer the football? Transfer Ashton Daniels and redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry seem to be the ones who are competing for the job.
This isn't something that the coaching staff needs to rush over or just hand the keys over to Ashton Daniels just because of his veteran experience. We all saw what happened when the Seminoles started DJ Uiaglalelei and Thomas Castellanos.
Florida State is in need of more offensive playmakers in the offense for Mike Norvell in 2026
Chances are, Florida State already has its three starting wide receivers in Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, and Jayvan Boggs, but the offense needs to spread the football around the field to keep opposing defenses honest.
One name that Coach Norvell continues to bring up is redshirt freshman tight end Chase Loftin. He talked with the media on Tuesday afternoon, where he referred to Loftin as having a chance to be really good.
The 6'6" playmaker looks to be a bigger part of the offense, considering that they redshirted him the year prior. Fans aren't as impressed with tight ends, but the trio of Landen Thomas, Desirrio Riles, and Chase Loftin could be something that excites the fan base and gets them active with Florida State.
