Mike Norvell held his mid-week Q&A session and gave a bit of an open-ended injury update on quarterback Tommy Castellanos.
It was the sort of injury update we've come to expect from the FSU football coach. There were a lot of keywords and he's always confident in where things are "trending", but he also manages to leave a lot up to interpretation.
INJURY NEWS: Norvell says he feels "very confident" in where QB Tommy Castellanos is trending after taking a big hit vs. Stanford.

What did Norvell say about Castellanos' status?
After a short opening statement, Norvel was asked about Castellanos and said the following:
"I'm feeling very confident where it's trending, but obviously, we'll be able to get a little bit more [clarity?] later on in the week. But he's handled the things he's been asked to do very well."
I guess that's good? We have no idea what exactly Castellanos has been asked to do. If he's being asked to make sure his backups know the plays they will need to run Saturday, that might be an issue.
Castellanos has been dealing with various injuries for a few weeks, but the transfer from Boston College has played through all of them and playing nearly every important snap for FSU this year. However, he took a vicious hit late in the Stanford game that likely left him with concussion symptoms. Norvell disclosed that Castellanos wouldn't have been able to play last week if the Seminoles had a game.
If Castellanos can't go, then the next option would be true freshman Kevin Sperry. With FSU in the midst of a four-game skid, as long as Castellanos is functional and gets cleared by the doctors, he''ll probably play.
Is Norvell feeling the heat during homecoming week?
Normally homecoming is a time for celebration, but there isn't much to celebrate around FSU football (outside of the brand new facility) and just the fact that there's an underlying belief that a favored FSU squad will struggle with Wake Forest has fans on edge.
But Norvell won't let these rumblings dampen his perceived optimism.
"I'm not a person that's goes into games...days...plays thinking this is 'oh this is the worst that could happen'. I'm not wired that way. I'm believing for what will and what we can be and that's what we work towards. We've got an incredible fanbase. It's homecoming. There's going to be a lot of energy Saturday night and there needs to be."
Oh there could be a lot of energy on Saturday night. For Norvell's sake, let's just hope it's the kind that comes with a positive outcome instead of what's been expressed over the past month.
