The guys in the desert surprised many folks by listing Florida State football as the betting favorite over the visiting Wake Forest Demon Deacons a few days ago. FSU was either a -7.5 or -8.5 betting favorite, and everyone slammed the Wake Forest lines because they thought it was free money.

FSU just lost on the road against a terrible Stanford team, and Wake Forest just beat a SMU team that beat Clemson on the road. FSU has lost four straight games and looked progressively worse because they have some guys out or playing injured. A few of those guys look uninterested and don’t want to be there.

There is growing sentiment that the FSU team no longer wants to play for Mike Norvell, as some players joked in the locker room after losing to Stanford. However, despite all of those factors, the betting line continues to grow in favor of the Seminoles.

The line has grown to -9.5 on Fanduel as of Wednesday morning. Over 85 percent of the bets were on the Demon Deacons a few days ago, and that percentage has decreased to around 75 percent.

We wrote about why FSU might be favored in the matchup shortly after the lines were posted. FSU has largely beaten themselves during its four-game losing streak. Turnovers haunted them in the first two losses, and costly penalties were the culprit in the last two.

We always say, if that betting line looks too good to be true, it usually is. This isn't to say FSU will cover that spread or even win outright. All of their losses have been by eight points or fewer. It's all about the matchups, and it's a good matchup for FSU if they are healthy and focused.
