It still makes me upset that former Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis had to medically retire from the NFL with the New York Jets due to the injury that he sustained from the November 18th contest versus North Alabama in 2023 with the Seminoles.
The New York Jets thought that it could use a fifth-round pick on him in hopes that he could learn behind veterans Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor, as well as properly recover from his injuries.
Unfortunately, that did not happen as his body did not recover well. It breaks my heart because Travis endured the long struggle of becoming a good collegiate signal-caller. This was a player I didn't know could throw ten yards downfield back in 2019.
However, he continued to prove the nation wrong with his abilities as he finished his Seminole career with 8,644 passing yards, 66 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. Travis explained that his development was due to the fact of the faith that the Florida State football coaching staff had in him, specifically head football coach Mike Norvell and former offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham.
Originally, when I heard that he would retire, I thought coaching would be his calling since he was a supportive human being. Coach Norvell was asked on Thursday afternoon in a Seminole Booster tour event in Jacksonville, Florida, about the potential of Jordan Travis joining the coaching staff.
Here is what he had to say:
"If that is the path that he wants to go, then I am going to work really hard to make sure that it becomes our reality."
It looks like this could be a match made in Heaven for Travis, who has invested so much time and energy into this program. This would be so fantastic to have someone who is such a great ambassador to what Florida State football is all about.
Hey Kenny Dillingham... Don't get any good ideas by trying to sway him over to Arizona State!
