Mike Norvell changes negative recruiting narrative with 4-star RB prediction to FSU

This would be a good get for Florida State football recruiting.

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is ranked outside the top-50, according to 247Sports Composite. However, the fan base is tired of hearing about all of the negativity surrounding the program and just wants to see the good news happen.

Arch-rivals Miami and Florida continue to reel in recruits, while Florida State seems to be lagging. This is probably because the Seminoles decided to keep head coach Mike Norvell in the fold for the 2026 season.

Some recruits feel as though there is a chance that Mike Norvell might not be the coach when they arrive at the school in 2027. The hot seat talk is real, and recruits are hearing about it. This isn't the first time that Florida State fans have heard this about Norvell, as he somehow survived the disastrous 2024 campaign.

The recruiting class has not been ideal, as they have been losing out on highly prioritized targets to other schools. They picked up three-star defensive lineman Eric Vaulx Jr. during the first official visit weekend. Of course, some fans didn't like the pickup, even though I thought it was a perfect fit for Tony White's defense, being able to be versatile enough to play on the edge and the interior.

With that said, fans let star rankings dictate a recruit's ability, but some of these recruiting services drop a prospect's ranking when they don't go to camps. These are high schoolers after all, so it is a bit ridiculous that they don't put more stock in their actual play on the football field.

Florida State could be trending for Class of 2027 four-star running back target Jayden Miles

Nonetheless, Florida State could be trending for another prospect from the first official visit weekend: four-star running back Jayden Miles from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Rivals' Sam Spiegelman put in a prediction in favor of the Seminoles for Miles.

The fan base was a bit irritated that three-star running back target Tai Phillips cancelled his official visit to Florida State and looks to be trending to Alabama.

This update seems to be the reason for that. I could see them grabbing Miles in the near future and then possibly getting three-star running back Marquis Fennell from Valdosta, Georgia, who is more of a speedster and a hybrid athlete. Fennell is visiting this upcoming weekend at Florida State.

It would be a big deal for Florida State to land someone like Miles in the recruiting class, even though they have talented youngsters such as Ousmane Kromah and Amari Thomas. The Seminoles always need to stack talent at the position.
