Florida State football had a productive year on the offensive line, but they lost all five of their starters due to them being graduating seniors. This is a problem because the Seminoles are constantly dipping their toes back into the transfer portal market.
The truth is that there are plenty of teams across college football that need offensive linemen. It is one of those position groups that coaches can never get enough of. As a wise man once said, "You win championships in the trenches".
The one issue that I personally have with how Florida State conducts its search for offensive linemen is that they often times resort to the transfer portal instead of grabbing high school talent and developing them. These youngsters see that trend and often choose to land elsewhere.
With that said, it isn't all negative because assistant coach Herb Hand is a tremendous evaluator of talent and has several years of Power Four coaching experience. This could be a situation where he had to enter the transfer market to ensure that he had immediate help right now, while homegrown guys like Andre Otto, Sandman Thompson, Jonathan Daniels, Jayden Todd, and Sean Poret.
Assistant coach Herb Hand needs to expand his recruiting board and get offensive line prospects on campus as soon as possible
Florida State has its quarterback in place with three-star Logan Flaherty, but they have no offensive linemen to protect him. They don't have many prospects visiting this summer for official visits, and it looks like they are hoping that four-star interior offensive lineman DeJohn Yarborough from Chander, Arizona, commits to Florida State when he visits on the weekend of June 12th.
Yarborough has other trips scheduled with Mississippi State, California, and Washington. The only other offensive linemen visiting are three-star offensive tackle Jacob Burns from Rabun Gap, Georgia, but he has schools like Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and North Carolina State involved in his recruitment. He will also visit on the weekend of June 12th, just like Yarborough.
The wish is that the Seminoles expand their recruiting board, as three-star interior offensive lineman Shavezz Dixon from Leesburg, Georgia, was someone that they valued, and he was even supposed to announce his commitment on the weekend of June 5th (when he was officially visiting Florida State). However, that trip doesn't look to be happening anymore.
The offensive line recruiting target board is concerning for the Florida State Seminoles right now.
