Florida State is not doing a great job on the recruiting trail for the 2027 cycle. This is obvious because of the job security of head coach Mike Norvell. The Seminoles will have to once again come through in the summer months during official visits.

Florida State landed three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty from Port Charlotte, Florida, recently. Some fans don't like the take because of his three-star ranking, and they even refer to Mike Norvell as "Three-star Mike". It is warranted since Norvell has not taken advantage of getting highly-touted prospects and has elected to get developmental recruits.

The news is getting even worse for Florida State, as arch-rivals Miami and Florida are in the top five of the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2027 cycle. The Hurricanes are coming off a national championship game appearance, and the Gators are welcoming in first-year head coach Jon Sumrall, who has the "new car smell".

This doesn't sit well with Florida State fans because it feels like the Seminoles' administration could be prolonging the inevitable with Norvell being on the hot seat. However, they look to be confident that he could return to his 2022 and 2023 form.

Four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams commits to Miami over Florida State

Florida State gets a disappointing update on the recruiting front, as four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams has committed to the Miami Hurricanes.

This is disappointing because Florida State was going toe-to-toe with Miami and Georgia for Williams. He even named the Seminoles the top school in his recruitment at one point. Plus, the Alabama native was planning to officially visit Florida State on the weekend of June 12th.

Assistant coach Herb Hand did a solid job with the Seminoles' offensive line group last season, but the recruits probably need to see more homegrown guys get in the rotation instead of relying strictly on transfers. Hopefully, recruited players like Andre Otto, Sandman Thompson, Jonathan Daniels, and Jayden Todd will have roles this season.

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has always been a good recruiter, and what makes him well respected on that front is that he prioritizes the trenches. Hopefully, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell can get the job done later this summer and connect with those talented trench pieces.
