Florida State football is not in great shape from a fan or media perspective because of the last two disastrous seasons, during which the program has combined for seven wins. This isn't the same place that the legendary Bobby Bowden built, and they have to find a way to get it to its elite state.
Florida State is currently projected to have an over/under win total of 6.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That would be better than the 5-7 campaign that they had last year, but after beating Alabama in the opener, fans thought that a possible College Football Playoff berth was in order.
Unfortunately, it seemed to hit rock bottom when Florida State lost to Stanford on the road. I still cannot believe that I have to type that sentence. It makes me want to throw up in my mouth just thinking about it. Nonetheless, the fan base wanted head coach Mike Norvell fired.
While I am not sitting here holding the pitchfork for Norvell to be fired, I can understand the frustrations of wanting to be better. The Seminoles have invested plenty of resources in renovating Doak Campbell Stadium, building a football-only facility, and suing the ACC.
Speaking of this dreaded conference, the ACC has still not shown any favoritism towards Florida State, which is a program that made the conference as successful when it began. The 2023 College Football Playoff snub still stings, and the commissioner still didn't advocate for the Seminoles to be in.
Florida State needs to find a way to get out of the Friday night game against Louisville
It is over now, but Florida State football is still battling difficulties to this day, as the conference scheduled the Seminoles to have three Friday games this year (Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Florida).
I already discussed my dislike of Florida State having to play the arch-rival Florida Gators at 3:30 PM EST, but the conference decided to play the Miami Hurricanes out and rescheduled their game against Virginia Tech from a Friday to a Saturday.

I personally don't care much about Florida State playing Florida or Pittsburgh on a Friday because the Seminoles already have to play Boston College on the road the week prior. However, having to play Louisville on a Friday night is going to be tough.
I remember the 2014 Florida State squad when they played a ranked Louisville team on a Thursday night when signal-caller Jameis Winston and head coach Jimbo Fisher were still with the program. While I understand that the 2014 version of Florida State had its own deficiencies, it was a difficult game where the Seminoles had to rally to avoid the upset.
Florida State faced a 21-0 deficit late in the second quarter, and Winston had three interceptions. Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker was difficult to guard for the Seminoles' secondary, with him having 214 receiving yards. However, running back Dalvin Cook, wide receiver Travis Rudolph, and tight end Nick O'Leary pulled them to the 42-31 victory.
This is not me comparing this 2026 squad to the 2014 team because they went to the College Football Playoff, but the point is to say that those night weekday games at schools such as Louisville and North Carolina State have always been tough.
