Rinse and repeat with the FSU offense not scoring more than 14 points since the season opener against Georgia Tech. The Miami Hurricanes defeated the FSU Seminoles 36-14 to end FSU's three-game winning streak in the series.
The FSU defense kept it respectable as long as they could, holding Miami to 17 first-half points and fewer than 30 points until the game was essentially over, and Miami scored after the FSU offense went three-and-out with less than five minutes remaining in the game.
FSU held Miami QB Cam Ward to 22 of 35 for 208 yards and zero touchdown passes. However, FSU struggled to get off the field on third down, which has been a consistent issue all year. Miami converted third and longs with ease at times, with Cam Ward extending plays with his legs. They finished with 8 of 14 on third-down conversions.
If FSU had any semblance of an offense it would have been a much more competitive game. I could say that every week FSU has played. However, freshman QB Luke Kromenhoek took another step towards likely becoming the guy at QB. He made several plays with his legs and led FSU to its first touchdown in the first half.
He finished the game 6 of 14 for 61 passing yards but threw several nice passes. More importantly, it looked like the game had slowed down for him and he had decent command of the offense. Brock Glenn led a touchdown drive on FSU's final possession, but the offense didn't seem to move the same under his watch.
Luke remained in the game until the final two drives, which leads me to believe he might have taken the lead in the competition. I guess we'll see next week when FSU hosts North Carolina.
