Mike Norvell is going to have to recruit with a lot more strategy than many of his peers and that could play out in the case of three-star wide receiver Namajay Thompson.
Thompson, a six-foot pass catcher out of Shelby, North Carolina, has FSU on his list of official visits, but Alabama and Georgia are currently the schools to beat as he'll take a look at several campuses before making a late summer decision.

The Seminoles offered Thompson last month, and they were quickly able to jump on his calendar with an official visit. He will be in Tallahassee on June 5. His tour of campuses starts this weekend in Georgia with Wake Forest (May 29), Alabama (June 12) and Virginia Tech (June 19) also on the docket.
FSU will receive an official visit from 3-star WR target Namajay ThompsonÂ
It's important for Norvell to get Thompson on campus and make a good impression regardless of what decision comes down later in the summer, because there could be a situation down the road, before the December signing period, where things open back up and if they do, FSU will want to be an option.
And that's some of the strategy that Norvell and staff have to implore while the recruiting momentum is at a halt right now. Identify the targets, get them on campus and leave them with a good impression. Even if Thompson commits to another program, there's no guarantee that he will stick for any number of reasons.
One area Norvell has had some success with getting late flips in the final stretch of recruiting. Players can get squeezed out of classes or a coach decides to depart for a different location. There have been many instances in the fall when FSU has gotten some solid recruits under Norvell by simply being patient. Most fans remember the crazy recruitment of Cam Brooks last year when he was a target, and then he wasn't a target, and then he committed to Cal, but in the 11th hour, Brooks ended up in the class.
Sometimes recruiting is a marathon and right now FSU is just trying to run its race.Â
