Florida State basketball head coach Luke Loucks has the basketball program heading in the right direction as they have found their footing in ACC play. The Noles had a nice come-from-behind win over Boston College on Tuesday night, but the fan base is excited about what’s to come.
Florida State signed an excellent 2026 recruiting class, consisting of four players (three blue-chip). The class ranks No. 11 nationally, but that could change if Luke Loucks works some more of his recruiting magic.
One of the top players from the 2027 class announced he’ll reclassify to 2026 and has set up official visits with two schools: Florida State and Auburn.

Martay Barnes would give FSU another boost as Luke Loucks continues to build his program
Martay Barnes ranks as the No. 54 player and No. 4 shooting guard in the 2027 recruiting class. He stands 6’2” and is listed at 170 pounds. He hails from The Academy of Central Florida in Orlando.
The fact that Florida State will get the final visit should provide a boost of confidence, and it’s not like Auburn basketball is some elite program. They are barely above .500 as a program, similar to FSU with a first-year head coach.
Auburn only signed one player in its 2026 recruiting class, a three-star point guard. FSU signed two shooting guards in its 2026 class, though they have more size and length in Brandon Bass and Collin Paul.
Luke Loucks has some momentum in the program over the past eight games, and they've already beaten rival Miami, who Barnes will watch the Noles play against in person.
If Luke Loucks can pull off this recruiting win, it'll only add to his reputation as a good recruiter early in his career.
