Luke Kromenhoek leaving FSU? Mike Norvell will return to the transfer portal for a QB
By Cole Kruger
Former 5-star true freshman QB Luke Kromenhoek has announced that he will enter the transfer portal. With this news, Mike Norvell will once again have to search the transfer portal for his new QB, something that many FSU fans could be skeptical about.
Kromenhoek saw a ton of action down the stretch for the Seminoles, including starting at QB for the Florida game, where he went 15/28 for 140 yards. Kromenhoek, who looked like the QB of the future for the Seminoles has decided to head elsewhere, which will have Norvell searching in the transfer portal for his QB once again. Last season, Norvell missed out on Cam Ward, and the Seminoles landed on DJ Uiagalelei for the 2024 season, and we all know how that turned out.
The only two quarterbacks left on the FSU roster as it stands are Brock Glenn and Trevor Jackson. The future does not look incredibly bright with Brock Glenn, as he struggled this past season. As for Jackson, he didn't see any playing time last season but has the potential to be a solid, dual-threat starting QB for the Noles. If we know anything about Norvell and the current climate of the Seminoles program, it is suspected that they will target a QB through the transfer portal.
The name everyone keeps hearing as a target is former Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos, who will visit FSU on December 11th. Castellanos put up 1,366 passing yards and 18 touchdowns to only 5 interceptions this past season. With new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn coming in, the FSU offense could look completely different with a dual-threat QB under-center, something both Norvell and Malzahn have found success with.
Many fans would've liked for Norvell and this staff to develop Luke Kromenhoek, as he shows splashes of talent throughout the year, but with the transfer, Norvell and the rest of the staff will have to change course for the 2025 season. Although the transfer portal was a huge failure for the 2024 Seminoles, maybe Thomas Castellanos can turn the tide in 2025.
