JAMIE ARNOLD TIME

Florida State baseball had a productive 2025 season, even though it ended in a Super Regional loss to Oregon State. The Seminoles had talent on their roster, including superstar starting pitcher Jamie Arnold.

Arnold finished with an 8-2 record with a 2.98 ERA with 119 strikeouts with the Seminoles this past year. He was a reliable Friday night starter that always consistent for the program.

The lefty was projected to be a top-five selection in the 2025 MLB Draft, but he slipped on Sunday afternoon as he was selected with the 11th overall pick by the Oakland Athletics. The drop could have been from the lack of improvement from 2024 to 2025, but Arnold had an 11-3 record with a 2.98 ERA and 159 strikeouts.

I know there were times when his command got tested early in a few outings, but once he settled into the game, he was able to force a ton of swings and misses. The Seminoles will miss his services.

ARNOLD DRAFT TEAM OUTLOOK

The Oakland Athletics sit with a 41-57 record and are in last place in the American League West division. The organization is in desperate need of quality starting arms, with veteran Luis Severino struggling with a 2-11 record and 5.16 ERA.

This older team is looking for a spark for the future, and I firmly believe that Jamie Arnold could accomplish that for them whenever his time comes.

The Athletics are in the process of moving to Las Vegas in a couple of years, but I cannot wait to see Arnold have his chance to shine with them.
