Logan Flaherty wasn't ready to give up on his dream to play at FSU. The quarterback always wanted to play for the Seminoles, but he also had to balance that desire with making the best decision for himself. Luckily for Mike Norvell and staff, those two paths met at a crossroads.
Flaherty decided to continue his family's Seminole legacy, committing to the school where both his parents graduated from. FSU edged out Rutgers for the Port Charlotte product, who was initially committed to UCF.

"Coach Norvell offered me when I was a sophomore, and he's kept in touch since then. Coach Tucker got promoted in January, and he's been on me heavy, calling every week and sometimes multiple times a week. It's been a dream since I was eight years old to go to Florida State," Flaherty said during the live broadcast of his announcement.
In-state QB Logan Flaherty gives Mike Norvell and FSU a much-needed pledge
We don't have to go through Norvell's checkered history with quarterbacks at FSU. It's been Jordan Travis and a collection of failures. Whether the head coach wants to own that or not, it's all happened on his watch. Norvell has had four different quarterbacks he recruited out of high school start a total of 12 games in six seasons. Flaherty could be the outlier. He needs to be the outlier. FSU needs something positive to happen within the program to get people excited again and getting an athletic in-state quarterback that wants to be a Seminole is a good start.
Rivals/On3 national recruiting director Steve Wiltfong says that Flaherty has the time of makeup that should benefit FSU and help change the narrative that's defined the Seminoles over the past couple of years.
"Logan Flaherty is a leader. He is a winner, and he's looking to get his dream school back on track. He's a dual-threat passer. He's an accurate thrower of the football, threw for over 2,600 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior," Wiltfong said. "He rushed for 595 yards and 11 touchdowns. He rushed for 13 scores and threw for 21 passing scores as a sophomore. He has played a lot of high school football, and he is someone that has the moxie, charisma and competitive nature to get Florida State back on track.
Flaherty gives Norvell and the Seminoles staff a major ally as we approach official visit season. Expect to see him on campus nearly every weekend trying to help FSU get commitments from some of the big targets they will be bringing in. Wiltfong believes Flaherty could be the Seminoles' best recruiter for the next several weeks.
"They are going to be hosting over 40 official visitors this summer," Wiltfong added. "They're going to have a chance to put themselves in position to land some top targets and having a [commit] like Logan Flaherty in the fold is certainly going to resonate with skill players and offensive linemen that want to play with a talented dual-threat quarterback."
