Florida State baseball entered Saturday with a run-rule victory over Notre Dame at home by a score of 11-0 in seven innings. This was encouraging for the Seminoles, as they try to generate momentum after losing power hitter Myles Bailey for the season with an injury.

The Fighting Irish have struggled this season, as they have one of the worst records in conference (7-13) with a 17-17 overall record. With that said, Florida State should never take conference wins for granted, as they hope to get a high seed for the NCAA Tournament.

Nathan Cmeyla got Florida State off to a good start on Friday night, as he was successful in a two-RBI double to give the Seminoles an early lead in the first inning. They put an exclamation point on the sixth inning with seven runs, with home runs by John Stuetzer and Eli Putnam.

Florida State was able to win the series against Notre Dame at home

As for Saturday, Notre Dame got out to an early lead with Drew Berkland's solo home run, but the bats for Florida State came alive in the bottom of the first inning, as multiple players had crucial hits to elevate the Seminoles' lead to 4-1.

The home run by Eli Putnam in the bottom of the fifth inning gave Florida State a 9-2 advantage. However, Notre Dame didn't go away, as they ended up having four runs in the top of the sixth inning. This is a situation where the pitching staff had to settle in and not blow the lead.

Relievers Chris Knier and John Abraham came in for starting pitcher Trey Beard and were able to get out of the sixth inning. Abraham went 3.1 innings, where he allowed three hits on zero earned runs.

Head coach Link Jarrett had three batters who had multiple hits: Chase Williams, John Stuetzer, and Gabe Fraser. The Seminoles have to continue the offensive firepower, as they try to finish out the series tomorrow at 1 PM EST in Dick Howser Stadium.
