Liberty QB transfer Kaidon Salter is planning a visit to Florida State
Florida State football had a horrendous 2024 season, where it finished with a 2-10 record. The Seminoles are trying to hit the reset button this offseason with a new coaching staff, recruits, and transfers.
Head football coach Mike Norvell talked about the changes being quick since the program just finished 2023 with an undefeated regular season and a conference championship.
Nonetheless, the fan base wants to see progress and they want to see it fast before the Alabama Crimson Tide come to Tallahassee in 2025 for the season opener. Given that the Crimson Tide were left out of the College Football Playoff, they could try to be proving a point by defeating Florida State.
The good thing is that Florida State now has offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, who has a lot of experience beating Alabama. His offenses have always given them fits. Malzahn has to find ways to scheme up an Alabama defense that should be very good.
The first order of business has to be the quarterback position. As of now, the Seminoles have Luke Kromenhoek, Brock Glenn, Trever Jackson, and Kevin Sperry. None of them have proven anything at the collegiate level yet, so Malzahn giving one of those players the keys to the offense without being proven is insane unless they show something during the spring.
As a result, I know that Seminole fans don't want to hear this, but I believe that Florida State could entertain the idea of a transfer portal quarterback. I realize that it did not go well for players such as Everett Golson, McKenzie Milton, or DJ Uiagalelei, but Florida State is in a sense of urgency after what transpired in 2024.
According to a report from On3's Pete Nakos, Liberty quarterback transfer Kaidon Salter is planning visits to Florida State, Colorado, and Syracuse.
This would be an interesting pickup for the Seminoles. He had a fantastic 2023 season with the Flames as he had 2,876 passing yards with 32 touchdowns and only six interceptions. Then he also had 1,089 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns.
Liberty was expected to take another step forward, but Salter didn't have quite the year he wanted. He finished with 1,886 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. On the ground, he had 579 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
I believe that this would be a better option in a Malzahn offense than Thomas Castellanos (who I can see going back to UCF with Scott Frost being named the head coach there). Nonetheless, I would like the pickup of Salter if it were to happen.
