HARRELSON WAS CLUTCH
Florida State's lineup has been ice-cold lately, and fans want them to succeed quickly so they can continue their postseason run. I originally thought that it would have been infielder Alex Lodise. I will say that Lodise forced a walk that led to a Max Williams single in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 1.
However, the straw that broke the camel's back was Gage Harrelson. The lead-off hitter went to the plate with runners on first and second base with two outs. The game was tied at 1 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Harrelson was patient at the plate, where he forced the count to 3-1 after fouling off the first pitch. Then, the Warner Robins, Georgia, native had another foul ball, and the count was full. The pressure was on for the former Texas Tech transfer to be successful for his team. Harrelson was able to find a way to put the baseball in play with a single on the next pitch to give the Seminoles a 2-1 lead.
BATS NEED TO GET HOT IN GAME 2
There were a ton of swings and misses when the Seminoles' batters had to face off against Oregon State's Kleinschmit, who had eleven strikeouts in six innings. Thankfully, they were able to drive up his pitch count to where he didn't last as long, and the fact that Florida State won the game by a score of 3-1.
However, only having six hits was disappointing, especially when talented players such as Alex Lodise, Myles Bailey, and Chase Williams went a combined 0/11 in Game 2 versus Oregon State.
Even though last night should have been Florida State's close-out game in the series. The bats have to find success tonight for a ticket to Omaha. Be sure to tune in tonight as the Seminoles take on the Oregon State Beavers in Game 3 at 9:00 PM EST on ESPN2 (please don't show the Savannah Bananas over this game again...).
