Keon Coleman might have to find a new team to play for next season

When Keon Coleman arrived in Buffalo and charmed the local media with his take on winter clothes and general fun personality, it looked like the Bills had their new star wide receiver.

But it's been an up-and-down two seasons for the former FSU standout, and now it appears that the former first-team All-ACC performer is on the way out after an explosive press conference from Bills owner Terry Pegula suggested that no one in the front office wanted to draft Coleman.

Keon Coleman needs to get out of Buffalo...now

Yeah, if the owner is ripping you in a post-season press conference and claiming no one left in the organization wants you there, it's probably time to seek out a new place for employment. And the optics of Pegula ripping a player from his roster who has struggled, but doesn't seem to be a problem in terms of attitude or locker room chaos, is particularly bad. A lot of young players struggle in the NFL and some don't pan out at all, but teams just quietly move on. Pegula's words could ruin Coleman's career and reputation around the league.

Buffalo fired head coach Sean McDermott on Monday, two days after the Bills' 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos on Saturday. Coleman played in both Bills' playoff games this season and had two catches for 45 yards with a 10-yard touchdown Saturday.

Coleman was drafted to be the big, athletic target in the passing game for All-Pro quarterback Josh Allen. Instead, he's had runs of inactivity and healthy scratches over the past two seasons. He opened this year with an eight-catch, 112-yard performance against the Ravens, but did not come close to equaling that productivity for the rest of the season. He was a catalyst behind the Seminoles' 13-1 season in 2023 after transferring to FSU from Michigan State. Coleman led the team in receiving yards (658) and touchdowns (11). His efforts led to being selected with the first pick in the second round (33rd overall).

There were a lot of rumblings about Coleman from week to week this season, and it appeared that McDermott was trying to do anything to motivate him. But now with McDermott and presumably his coaching staff out, there's no one left that wants Coleman around.
