Florida State fans often relive the glory days when the Seminoles won their third national championship in 2013, where they defeated the Auburn Tigers by a score of 34-31. That team is often disrespected in the discussion of the greatest teams of all-time.
Former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston won the Heisman Trophy that year and was a huge reason why the Seminoles were so successful. However, back in his college days, people either loved him or despised him for some of his actions.
There was no doubt about it, "Famous Jameis" was a superstar who could make all of the throws. It was impressive that he won the Heisman Trophy just as a redshirt freshman. However, the former five-star signal-caller lives up to the expectations of his recruiting ranking.
Winston went on to be the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jameis Winston speaks on when he wants to retire from the NFL
Jameis Winston's NFL career has been up-and-down thus far. He started with the Buccaneers, where he recorded an astonishing 30 interceptions in his final season in 2019. Then, he went over to the rival Saints, where he didn't do much. Lastly, in 2024 and 2025, he was with the Browns and Giants for one-year stints apiece.
I figured that the Giants would be a disaster for him since he did not get the opportunities to play meaningful snaps, since they picked up veteran Russell Willson in free agency and drafted rookie Jaxson Dart at the position.
With his last two stops not being the most ideal, it made individuals wonder when he would hang up his cleats and join FOX Sports, since he was such a great hit for the network due to his outgoing and hilarious personality. Winston recently went on Barstool's Pardon My Take Podcast and discussed his NFL retirement timeline.

It is funny that Winston mentioned that he wants to play for twelve more years in the NFL. This would mean that he is playing until he is 44 years old, which would outlast Peyton Manning's (39) and Drew Brees's (42) age for when they retired.
You can always depend on Jameis giving a noteworthy quote that will have people laughing for days. Hopefully, Seminole fans can enjoy him starting in the NFL again before he decides to retire in the year 2038.
