It looks like the Seminoles cannot catch a break... SEC school still on the schedule

This could be very bad news for the Seminoles.

Florida State football has been going through failures as a program. The Seminoles have a 7-17 record over the past two seasons. The program is retaining head football coach Mike Norvell for the 2026 season.

Fans were frustrated that Florida State is running it back after the losses have stacked together. The only good thing that has happened in two years was that the Seminoles defeated Alabama in the season opener of this year.

This was probably the most shocking aspect of the college football season because the Crimson Tide are a College Football Playoff team, while Florida State isn't even a bowl game. During the preseason, fans didn't think the Seminoles would win the game.

They not only won the game, Florida State beat them by two possessions, and Coach Norvell thought that they should have defeated them by more points. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos made the comments in the preseason that Nick Saban cannot save Alabama, which had a target on Florida State's back after the interview. However, the Seminoles prevail.

Florida State will probably be a punching bag in 2026 because the Crimson Tide will be looking to get their revenge. The game will be played in Bryant-Denny Stadium on September 19th. Alabama could be a well-oiled machine by the third game of the season.

The road could get even tougher for the Seminoles, as FBSchedules.com reported that the Georgia Bulldogs cancelled their home-and-home football series with Louisville and North Carolina State.

Fans were hoping that since the ACC and SEC were moving to the nine-game conference schedule, that Florida State could avoid playing them. While the Seminoles never back away from a challenge, it would be nice to play a cupcake instead of a productive Bulldogs team that head football coach Kirby Smart has built.

According to FBSchedules.com, the Seminoles will be playing Georgia in Tallahassee on Saturday, September 4th (looks like an opener) in 2027 and in Athens on Saturday, September 16th (third game of the season?) in 2028.

It looks like Florida State avoided playing Notre Dame in 2026, but they will have to face another challenge in the Georgia Bulldogs in 2027 and 2028. The Seminoles are used as a punching bag, and teams want an opportunity to play them.
