Isa Torres nearly hits for cycle, batting average goes crazy against Notre Dame

She is already GOATED for me.

I’ve said it on social media a few weeks back, but Isa Torres is already one of the all-time greats in FSU softball history, and she has nearly a year and a half to continue building on her legacy. I wrote that the Notre Dame pitching staff wasn’t great, and Torres and the rest of the FSU lineup should have their way.

Torres nearly hit for the cycle, going four for four with two RBI to raise her batting average to .630. Do you know how insane it is to go four for four and only raise your batting average 15 points? She had two singles, a double, and a triple.

Hayley Griggs had a home run and two RBI. FSU totaled eight hits, nine walks, and struck out an uncharacteristic nine times. FSU left a lot of meat on the bone with 11 runners left on base in the 7-2 win.

Lonni Alameda continues to use the pitching by committee approach. Ashtyn Danley got the start and went 1.2 innings, followed by Jazzy Francik’s five innings to get the win. Makenna Reid got the final out in the game.

FSU pitchers had nine strikeouts, five walks, allowed two earned runs, and five hits. The walks continue to be a concern, especially for Francik, who only had five walks all last season.

Isa Torres is not of this planet and could shatter her record FSU batting average from a year ago.

FSU moves to (32-4, 10-0 ACC). The win was No. 22 in a row, as the Noles look to clinch another ACC series on Friday at 6 p.m. The game will air on the ACCNX channel.
