Is FSU freshman quarterback's social media post foreshadowing of the future?

It could mean nothing, but it could mean other things

It’s been over a week since Thomas Castellanos left the Stanford game late after absorbing a late hit. If we had to bet, it’s likely he suffered a concussion because of his body language immediately after the hit to his upper body. FSU coaches communicated that they hoped to use the bye week to “get him healed up.”

However, there was no timetable discussed regarding whether he hopes to play against Wake Forest this coming week. FSU coaches admitted that Castellanos has been playing at less than 100 percent the past few games after injuring his ankle in the Kent State game.

If Thomas Castellanos can’t play, FSU will likely turn to freshman Kevin Sperry, who came into the Stanford game after Castellanos went out with the injury. Interestingly enough, Sperry posted on his social media account Saturday evening:

Sperry has posted Bible verses before, so this could simply be that. However, this particular verse could imply some things. It could imply Castellanos isn’t clear to play yet, and he could potentially get the start. It could imply he is confident he can lead the team if he’s given the opportunity.

Sperry didn’t look completely lost, as he was thrown into the Stanford game in a high-pressure situation. FSU needed a touchdown and an extra point to tie the game, and he put FSU in position to do that, but they came up just short(Gavin Sawchuk scored, we don’t care what the blind ACC refs said).

Stanford brought pressure a lot against him, and the game seemed to move a little too fast at first, but he settled in, completing four of seven passes and rushing for 10 yards. Sperry leading the offense could be a gamble on Mike Norvell looking towards the future. If Sperry led FSU to a win over Wake Forest, that would likely raise some eyebrows and make folks ponder Norvell’s future a tad more. We’ll have to see how this unfolds, but FSU is an -8.5 betting favorite against the Demon Deacons even though FSU fans are confident the Noles lose this one.
