FSU FOOTBALL 2026 RECRUITING OUTLOOK
Florida State football is sitting with the 30th-ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. The Seminoles just secured a speedy four-star wide receiver, Brandon Bennett, from powerhouse American Heritage High School.
The Seminoles want to emphasize more of the high school recruiting since many individuals within the fan base think that head football coach Mike Norvell and the coaching staff focus more on the transfer portal.
KARON MAYCOCK DE-COMMITTING?
Florida State has ten commitments in its 2026 recruiting class. They are bound to lose a couple of prospects, given that six months are remaining until the Early Signing Period. Unfortunately, even when the prospects sign on the dotted line, they could go elsewhere.
Class of 2026 four-star linebacker commit Karon Maycock from Miami Central High School in Miami, Florida, was a prospect that many Seminole fans were excited to get because most experts thought that he would end up committing to the hometown Miami Hurricanes.
However, Maycock announced on social media that his recruitment will be an evaluation period, and he will make his final decision on July 7th. The Seminoles will get the last crack at persuading him on the last visit on June 20th, but schools such as Alabama and Florida will have a chance to flip him.

FINAL THOUGHTS
We saw how Florida State football finished last season with a 2-10 record. It could be easy to see Maycock still pick the Seminoles, and what happens if the program does not live up to the expectations, and he opens up his recruitment again.
The landscape of college football is a mess, and it is frustrating to see the coaching staff invest so much into a prospect just for him to de-commit and back off on his pledge. I am all for allowing the youngster to decide for himself and his loved ones, but it feels like a waste of time to get the fan base excited about them potentially coming into the university.
I hope this is a prospect that Florida State hangs on to, but this has to be the reason that the Seminoles are trying to acquire linebacker pieces such as four-star DQ Forkpa, four-star TJ White, four-star Rodney Colton Jr., and three-star Noah LaVallee.
