Florida State football is currently in the transfer portal window, where it is trying to acquire talent for its roster for the 2026 season. There seem to be numerous players on their roster who have entered their names in the transfer portal.
It makes sense because many of them are trying to leverage themselves, plus the transfer portal window is only available from January 2nd to 16th for non-graduate transfers.
The Seminoles have faced a lot of negative news lately, as the program has compiled a combined 7-17 record over the past two seasons. This is not the standard of this proud university that has goals of competing for championships.
Micahi Danzy is returning for the 2026 season
Florida State needed more positive news this offseason. They retained a large majority of their defensive backs after defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. was dismissed. However, the work still has to be done with a couple of other contributors.
It is wild how the new college football landscape operates nowadays, where players leverage themselves to other schools and force their current one to overpay. What happened to just wanting to play for the university for the love of the game?
Wide receiver Duce Robinson didn't have any drama with flirting with the portal, but he was considering declaring for the NFL Draft. The former USC transfer could have probably been selected at the very latest in the fourth round, which still could have been life-changing money.
However, Robinson decided to come back to the school where his father (Dominic) played and finish out his senior year in 2026. Even with the big-bodied target coming back next season, the Seminoles had other concerns in the wide receiver room, such as Lawayne McCoy and Micahi Danzy.
McCoy entered the transfer portal, but Danzy made a huge announcement on Friday afternoon that he would be returning for the 2026 season.
The Tallahassee, Florida native moved from running back to wide receiver last offseason, and became a useful weapon in the offense for Gus Malzahn and Tim Harris Jr. While he is a track star, it is great to see Danzy not giving up on football and improving from his 2025 campaign.
