Florida State football received some major news to start off the 2026 season right when its leading wide receiver in 2025, Duce Robinson, announced plans to return for one more season.

This is a huge win for the FSU offense, as Robinson accounted for 35.5 percent of the receiving yards and 28 percent of the receptions in 2025:

This likely means Robinson has been given assurance that FSU will bring in a high-caliber transfer quarterback for the 2026 season. It also likely means they’ll return Lawayne McCoy and Micahi Danzy, the trio were the top three leading receivers for FSU.

It started to look more and more like Robinson would return the longer he waited to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Several other players across the nation had announced their intentions to declare, but Robinson had not done so. It’s a draft year with several top receivers, and Robinson has some areas to improve upon, despite his excellent season in 2025.

He had some issues juggling a few catches, which cost him at least 2-3 touchdowns and probably another 100-200 receiving yards. If he can improve in those areas, he’ll likely be one of the top receivers taken in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Robinson’s return coincides with what I said about players like Ja’Bril Rawls returning. These two instances could help FSU set the foundation for years to come if the younger players are willing to buy in and follow these two leaders.  It reminds me of when the players from the 2022 team wanted to return and help FSU win a title.

They all had one mindset, and the portal players who came in had the same mindset, and we saw what happened. Maybe things can turn around quickly again?
