Florida State football's coaching staff has focused on the 2027 recruiting class. Even though the Seminoles only have four committed prospects, they are making every effort to secure high-caliber talent in Tallahassee.
The fan base has been disappointed in the Seminoles' on-the-field success over the past couple of years, where they have accomplished seven wins in the past two years. That won't be good enough to lure in high schoolers.
The landscape of college football has changed with the NIL situation. Players are having to reconstruct their contracts, and high schoolers are leveraging for the highest bidder.
Class of 2027 four-star Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV gets visit from Mike Norvell
The Seminoles' 2027 recruiting class does not have a quarterback prospect in the fold yet. However, that could change soon if the program continues to pursue four-star signal-caller Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV from Vero Beach, Florida.
Monds IV visited Florida State on a weekend when the former quarterback Jameis Winston was in town with his younger brother, Jonah Winston, who is a four-star wide receiver enrollee who will be here in the summer.
Having Winston on campus had to be great for the talented quarterback because he was a former Heisman Trophy winner and national champion at Florida State. Plus, he was a No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft and has played in several NFL games throughout his professional career. If anyone knows what success looks like, it is him.
Monds IV decided to take a visit to the arch-rival Florida Gators after his Florida State trip. These are the two schools that look to be battling for his services. Even though the Gators have defeated the Seminoles over the past two meetings, Mike Norvell and company are trying to change the narrative when they travel to Tallahassee this year on Black Friday with a head coach in Jon Sumrall.
With the quarterback deciding the best school in his recruitment, Coach Norvell decided to take a trip over to see Monds IV.

It seems like Florida State has its top priority at quarterback this cycle with Monds IV. It would be disappointing to lose him to an arch-rival with a new coach, so the program has to ramp up the heat in the pursuit.
