Here is a position that I do not think that the Seminoles need to waste on the portal

This would be a meaningless move for Florida State this offseason.

The transfer portal window will be quickly approaching on January 2nd, where it will be go-time for the Seminoles as they try to get their roster better in a hurry.

Florida State football fans will be hoping that Christmas comes later this year, as the program wants to get back on the track after going a combined 7-17 record in the past two seasons. While I know that individuals are skeptical of head football coach Mike Norvell being retained for a seventh season in Tallahassee, that is the decision that was made by the administration.

Like it or not, Norvell has the potential to be successful with Florida State after having 10-3 and 13-1 season in 2022 and 2023, respectively. However, those campaigns feel like an eternity ago and the Seminoles feel like the bottom feeders at this time.

The college game feels so inconsistent nowadays, where programs can go from one of the worst in the country to the best. That is a huge help because of the transfer portal, where it is literal free agency.

The Seminoles have to make corrections to its roster in a hurry. However, one position that I do not believe that Florida State needs to mess with is the running back position.

Position coach David Johnson navigated over to Arkansas this offseason, but the Seminoles have seemed to have found their guy in Tulsa's Kam Martin (not officially announced by the university yet), who used to be at UCF.

The backfield for the Seminoles was gross last season because it looked like no one in the group could find momentum with several guys being used. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn is used to have a bell cow or two in the running back room.

Florida State has plenty of talent in the group with players like Ousmane Kromah, Gavin Sawchuk, Samuel Singleton Jr., and newcomer Amari Thomas. The truth of the matter is that the Seminoles need to find their feature back in the room and stick with them.

I was one of those people that advocated for Kromah to get more carries to close out the 2025 campaign. He is the type of talent that the Seminoles cannot afford to let walk for the likes of Georgia. Coach Malzahn needs to use the talent that he has instead of bringing in yet another mercenary in the portal.

On3's Pete Nakos reported that Florida State was a team to watch for with Tennessee running back transfer Peyton Lewis. However, Lewis only recorded 290 yards and seven touchdowns last year for the Volunteers.

There is no reason to dump more fluff in the room. They instead need to play the guys that they have in the group and worry about spending the resources in the portal for other positions besides running back.
