Huge get for FSU!

I wrote late Monday night there are no guarantees in college recruiting, but FSU looked to be in good shape to flip three-star offensive lineman Jakobe Green from Mississippi State.

Green announced his de-commitment on Monday night and wasted no time announcing his commitment to FSU in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

It's a massive get for FSU offensive line coach Herb Hand. Green checks in at 6'3" and 335 pounds and ranks as the No. 572 player nationally and No. 50 interior offensive lineman.

More importantly, he has been to FSU several times, visiting the old offensive line coaching staff, but didn't receive an offer. Green received an offer from Mississippi State in early 2025 and committed a month later.

However, new FSU offensive line coach Herb Hand offered Green recently, and he immediately scheduled an official visit to FSU at the end of May.

Green took the official visit and maintained his commitment to Mississippi State to take the official visit there last week. The allure of FSU was too great, and here we are.

This is one of those times where relationships matter.

Green has the potential to be a mauler on the interior, a perfect match for Gus Malzahn's power run game. FSU has three offensive line commits in its 2026 recruiting class, and all three are 300+ pounds, with two at 335 pounds.

There's a clear difference in the types of bodies Herb Hand likes compared to the old FSU offensive lineman. Some folks have questioned how Coach Hand has handled the high school recruiting cycle.

However, we must remember he had to immediately jump into portal recruiting(and took to young guys from the portal to circumvent the need at the position). It's not like he had time to analyze everything and put together a recruiting board in a short amount of time, and that goes for all of the new coaches that got hired.

However, FSU can get a different caliber of players than what they were accustomed to at UCF. I think we'll see that trend continue as long as FSU wins games this fall. FSU has the No. 9 recruiting class nationally with the addition of Green.
