FSU football coaches have been working to keep great local in-state talent at FSU, and their latest efforts could pay dividends soon.

FSU offensive line target from Pensacola, Florida, Jakobe Green, de-committed from Mississippi State on Monday night. Green was among the first players to take an official visit to FSU in late May.

Green took his official visit to Mississippi State this weekend, but it must not have equaled his experience at FSU.

The offensive line is an area FSU coaches have work to do, as FSU offensive line coach Herb Hand looks to rebuild one of the worst units in college football. Green would be a massive part of that rebuild, literally and figuratively.

Green is 6'3" and 335 pounds. He ranks as the No. 572 player nationally and the No. 50 interior offensive lineman. He hails from Gadsden County High School, the same as former FSU defensive lineman Joshua Farmer. It's also the same high school where former FSU great and current staff member Corey Fuller was the head coach.

Green visited FSU several times when former offensive line coach Alex Atkins was on the staff. However, he committed to Mississippi State one month after receiving an offer in January 2025. Green also had offers from Boston College, Wake Forest, Miami, USF, Maryland, Florida, and a host of others.

FSU gained two more commitments in its 2026 recruiting class on Monday and predictions for Green to FSU have been trending. There are no guarantees in high school recruiting, but Green's de-commitment from Mississippi State should be a good sign for FSU since they are the only other school he officially visited.

If Green commits to FSU, he would be the third offensive lineman in the class and the 18th commitment overall. FSU could leapfrog Texas for the No. 9 spot if they have another day like Monday!
