FSU heater continues!

Florida State football coaches have put everyone on notice over the past few days. I wrote how they were on a recruiting heater with several high school commits over the past few days, but that momentum continued on Monday.

FSU coaches flipped four-star Auburn commit Devin Carter back to the Noles and four-star tight end Xavier Tiller announced his commitment to push the Noles to No. 10 nationally with 17 commits.

Here's the thing. FSU still has several targets who have been trending toward the school lately on the recruiting board and could announce their commitments at some point.

If some of those guys announce their commitments, it wouldn't surprise me to see FSU lose a recruit or two from certain positions. FSU had that happen yesterday when one three-star offensive lineman announced his de-commitment. However, I think it's clear that FSU coaches plan to take a larger high school recruiting class than usual by how they are moving.

The quality of the recruiting class stands out so far. FSU has 11 composite blue-chip commits (65 percent blue-chip ratio). That percentage should increase if the remaining targets come on board.

That's not too shabby coming off of a 2-10 season. However, I continue to stress this coaching staff can't allow history to repeat itself. They MUST put out a better product on the field and have early success in the season to maintain this level of recruiting.

They'll have an opportunity to make a statement when they open the 2025 season against Alabama, and some winnable games in the subsequent weeks. FSU quarterback Thomas Castellanos spoke with confidence about FSU regarding the Alabama game. IF FSU could pull off that upset or remain competitive, it would open the door for FSU to make some noise as the season progresses. Stay tuned, there's more potential good news on the way!
