FSU FOOTBALL CONTINUES THE GOOD NEWS
Florida State fans were critical of the high school football recruiting ability of head football coach Mike Norvell and his coaching staff. Many thought that he focused more closely on transfers than recruits.
However, that thought process slowly diminished as the Seminoles got their quarterback with four-star Jaden O'Neal from Mustang, Oklahoma. While there will be some that think O'Neal was a big backup plan, it should be noted that Norvell has liked the signal-caller for quite some time.
When O'Neal pledged to the program, I knew that it would likely create more opportunities for highly-touted prospects to commit to Florida State.
Florida State was able to get a "yes" from Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Devin Carter from Douglasville, Georgia, on Monday afternoon.
THOUGHTS
The Seminoles flipped back a legacy recruit from the Auburn Tigers. Carter's father (Dexter) was a former Florida State running back. It was reasonable to see the Georgia native de-commit after the coaching staff was up in the air when the program hired Tim Harris Jr.
Carter officially visited the Seminoles on June 6th, and he told the media members that he spoke to offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. During the trip, Carter stated that he would be used all over the field.
This is someone that O'Neal has developed a solid relationship with. The Seminoles already have four-star pass catchers such as Brandon Bennett, Darryon Williams, and Efrem White in the fold. The 6'0" playmaker should be someone who has a chance to make a difference in the offense to put points on the scoreboard.
After the commitment of Carter, the Seminoles rank as the 12th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite.
