Florida State football opens up fall camp on Wednesday, July 30th. The Seminoles will be preparing for their season-opening matchup versus the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th, in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium at 3:30 PM EST on ABC.

The program has decided to cut access to its media members for practice, which probably isn't a bad thing since Florida State went 2-10 last year and likely wants Alabama to be unexpected when they come into town.

Head football coach Mike Norvell did speak to the media on Tuesday afternoon before fall camp about true freshman running back Ousmane Kromah, whom I am very high on.

The Seminoles finished their 2025 recruiting class on a high note, even though they brought in several new assistant coaches. Some of the fan base wondered if Norvell and his staff would solely focus on transfers instead of high school recruits.

The Seminoles did land many highly-touted prospects. One that caught my eye was former four-star running back Ousmane Kromah, who was being recruited heavily by the Georgia Bulldogs. The Leesburg, Georgia, native recorded 1,356 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground while also having 741 receiving yards and eight touchdowns through the air during his senior season.

I understand that high school and college are two completely different stratospheres, but it is a good indicator that he is capable of performing at a high level.

Norvell spoke highly of Kromah on Tuesday afternoon by making the following statement:

"He is one of those freshmen that I am excited to see. In my years of coaching, I don't think I have ever watched a prospect more in person than when I watched him. He has not disappointed in summer workouts. It is a lot to make that jump, but I think he is built for it. I'm very excited to get him out on the field and see what he can do.""

Without giving any spoilers away, I dropped my projected depth chart for the Seminoles' 2025 team before fall camp and I had Kromah as a co-starter with former Oklahoma veteran transfer Gavin Sawchuk. There was a reason behind that. This coaching staff loves the potential of the Georgia native, and it seems like he is well beyond his years.

I know that it can be difficult to have a true freshman play meaningful snaps in a season that means so much to the program. However, if the youngster can play at an effective level and help the team win, then the staff has no choice but to play him.
