Florida State has always had its rivalry with the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes.
I wondered for years which one I despised more: The Hurricanes or the Gators? My response used to be the Florida Gators, but recently with Florida State's rivalry with them in football and basketball, it has become Miami.
Now, let me set the record straight... I am not like an Ohio State fan, and all I care about is beating my arch-rival at the end of the year. I would love to see Florida State accomplish a championship in all sports.
But c'mon, who doesn't like to see Florida State defeat Miami?
Well... on Sunday afternoon, the Seminoles' women's basketball team made light work of the Hurricanes where they defeated them by a score of 88-66. Florida State now has a 15-4 overall record (5-2 in conference).
They were once again led by guard Ta'Niya Latson, who recorded 30 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Latson shot an impressive 10 of 13 from the field (5 of 5 from three-point range). The talented guard only had 33 points in the last two contests versus Clemson and California, so it wasn't up to the lofty expectations of someone who averages 26.4 points per game.
Florida State now has a week to rest up and prepare for the No. 14 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on the road. The game will be televised on the ACC Network at noon EST. If Florida State wants the opportunity to get past the Tar Heels, they need Latson to establish her offensive game early and often.
