Florida State basketball travels to Atlanta, Georgia, to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a sleepy noon tip-off on the ACC Network. The Seminoles dropped their last game at home to arch-rival Miami, so the attention to detail had to be there to ensure that there wasn't a lack of focus.

The Seminoles have been playing some of their best basketball as of late, and it continued on Saturday afternoon as Florida State won 80-71. Head coach Luke Loucks needed this win as the Yellow Jackets only had an overall record of 11-18.

The Seminoles have a 15-14 record (8-8 in conference) now. This won't be good enough to get into the NCAA Tournament unless they win the conference championship, but it is a great building block for Coach Loucks and his team.

Florida State guard Robert McCray V stays hot in the month of February

Florida State fans understand this isn't where the Seminoles want to be in the standings, but the program has a top-10 recruiting class, and the squad is showing growth. They could have easily given up after the blowout loss to North Carolina State at home a while back, but they put their head down and gave it their all for first-year coach Luke Loucks.

One of the main reasons for the turnaround was guard Robert McCray V. He had 20 points with five assists and four rebounds. It was noteworthy that he connected on 4-of-5 from three-point range and only had one turnover (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

McCray V is the glue guy of this squad. He is the engine that operates everything. The senior guard had 29 points in the upset victory over Clemson, but he only recorded nine in the loss to rival Miami at home. Even though the Seminoles only connected on 7-of-26 from three (27%), McCray V was able to pick up the slack.

Florida State continues on the road to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers this Wednesday (March 4th) at 9:00 PM EST on the ACC Network.
