This could be good news for Florida State football recruiting.

Florida State football is sitting with the fourteenth-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. This isn't where the Seminoles want to be, but it is solid given the 2-10 season in 2024 and being 5-6 this year.

The Early Signing Period is a week away, as the Seminoles look to finish strong with head football coach Mike Norvell being in the fold for the 2026 season. I know that some of the fan base might be hesitant over the news that he is staying. However, it does bring clarity to the recruiting class.

These interested prospects (as well as the recruits that just pledged) know who will be the head football coach of the program will be. It is unfortunate when a school fires the leader of the team, and the new coach might have a different philosophy in the recruiting board, which could cause the recruits to de-commit and scramble to look elsewhere.

It is the sad reality of the coaching carousel that no one talks about enough. Surprisingly enough, Florida State hasn't dealt with too many departures other than five-star cornerback Jay Timmons flipping to Ohio State and four-star offensive lineman Da'Ron Parks.

Those are two talented recruits, but the thought process was that the Seminoles would have lost more prospects. It is still worth monitoring other situations across the country with Florida State's recruits. One example is three-star linebacker commit Karon Maycock from Miami, Florida. The Texas Longhorns have tried to get heavily involved before the signing period.

The Longhorns have flipped linebacker target Rocky Cummings from the California Golden Bears. This shows that the Seminoles have probably ensured that Maycock didn't flip to Texas.

Overall, Florida State has talented linebackers in the class such as four-star Izayia Williams, three-star Karon Maycock, and three-star Noah LaVallee (maybe even three-star Daylen Green if they use him as a hybrid linebacker). This would be a good haul for the position.
