FSU's search for an edge rusher in the 2026 recruiting class may come to an end this weekend.
3-star prospect Chris Carbin will be taking an official visit to Tallahassee this weekend, just days after the Atlanta-area player decommitted from Georgia Tech. Carbin has been on campus before and was recently in town to watch the Seminoles take on Alabama.

Carbin has been a target for FSU since the summer. He committed to Georgia Tech in early July and received an offer from FSU a few weeks later. Since the offer was extended, the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder has shown a lot of interest in the Noles.
With his recent decommitment from the Yellow Jackets, Carbin is on commitment watch this weekend while on his official visit to Tallahassee. However, if that doesn't happen, Carbin's recruitment is open and earlier this week he said he plans to go to Michigan for an official visit in November.

It's a pretty big recruiting week for FSU with Carbin and 3-star defensive lineman Franklin Whitley coming in on official visits. Both players have other officials planned, so the Seminoles staff is getting the first crack to impress.
3-star In-state safety/linebacker Jacob Curry was also scheduled for an official visit, but he canceled that visit this morning and committed to Oklahoma.
What are FSU's remaining recruiting needs?
The Seminoles are holding on to the No. 13-rated class, according to 247Sports, and the staff is trying to build momentum as the final months before the Early Signing Period approach.
Right now, the key remaining needs are offensive tackle, which the staff might be trying to get creative at filling. They have pursued 300-pound tight end Heze Kent, a Florida commit that will likely project as an offensive lineman at the next level. FSU is also still in the picture for 4-star in-state tackle Johnnie Jones, battling with Penn State, Missouri and Mississippi State.
Offensive tackle and edge rusher are primary needs, but FSU would also like to get a running back in the class. The Seminoles are not going to be in the mix for top in-state prospect Derrek Cooper and the on-again/off-again relationship with former commit Amari Thomas seems like it's off again.
To fill that running back need, FSU may continue to pursue Wisconsin commit Amari Latimer, especially if the Badgers decide to fire head coach Luke Fickell. And 3-star running back Qwantavius Wiggins, an FIU commit, is expected to be an unofficial visitor this weekend.
