FSU baseball (38-13) advanced to the ACC Tournament Semifinals with a 14-7 win over the Duke Blue Devils and will look to even the score when they face the North Carolina Tarheels on Saturday afternoon.
FSU could find itself among the top eight national seeds with a win over North Carolina, who took two of three games at Dick Howser Stadium last weekend. Freshman Myles Bailey provided most of the spark for the Noles against Duke. He hit two home runs, including this one that went nearly 470 feet.
Jamie Arnold got the win, and Joe Charles played a big part out of the bullpen. Joey Volini will go for the Noles against the Tarheels on Saturday.
FSU Softball
FSU softball's season ended in the Super Regionals for the second consecutive year. Texas Tech's ace pitcher, NiJaree Canady was too much for the Noles in back-to-back games.
Texas Tech beat FSU on Thursday, but FSU beat itself on Friday, failing to execute in key situations with a runner on third base with less than two outs. They also made four errors. Last year, FSU lacked the pitching, and Lonni Alameda fixed that part, but this year, the offense failed the Noles when it mattered most. FSU losing Kennedy Harp didn't help, but credit to Canady, because she's arguably the best pitcher in the nation. We'll miss those seniors like Michaela Edenfield and Jahni Kerr who we've watched over the years.
