There's a lot for FSU fans to love about recent commit Sam LeJeune and the blue-chip defensive lineman clearly loves his future as a Seminole.

LeJeune went into detail on his commitment to FSU last week and why he decided to go with FSU over his other major offers. The four-star defensive lineman out of Poplarville, Mississippi, is the highest-rated commit in the class and one of the highest HS recruits that's committed to the Seminoles under Mike Norvell. And if you ask LeJeune, the FSU coach is a big reason why he wants to be in Tallahassee.

“One thing he always says is, ‘I want to coach you,’” LeJeune told Chad Simmons of Rivals about Norvell. “He doesn’t negative recruit or talk bad about other schools. That’s why I like him so much. He is a great coach, he was a big part of my recruitment and I just love who he is.”

4-star DL Sam LeJeune endorses Mike Norvell's honesty in his recruitment

No one can blame Norvell for wanting to coach LeJeune because the 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman is a potential difference maker on the defense. The 247Sports Composite has LeJeune rated as the 11th-best defensive lineman in the nation and is ranked 122nd overall. He is the highest-rated player in the Seminoles class and joins another recent commit, four-star wide receiver Sean Green, as the only commits rated inside the top 200 on the composite.

The importance of this recruiting win for LeJeune can't be understated by Norvell, defensive coordinator Tony White and defensive line coach Terrance Knighton. Everyone on the coaching staff is under the gun and White's 3-3-5 defense isn't exactly a one-size fits all scheme. That's why having a very active big athlete like LeJeune can provide so much for FSU. He can play anywhere on the line, and he said during his commitment that he's going to be conditioned for high usage.

"I'm not going to be like these other fat linemen that go to these schools. 290 [pounds] lean. I'm coming to play early. I'm trying to play. I'm putting it in," LeJeune said.

Mike Norvell needs more top recruits to play to their ranking

Norvell has actually landed a good number of blue-chip HS recruits during his tenure, but they simply haven't delivered. There are a few players like four-star defensive back Azareye'h Thomas and four-star linebacker Blake Nichelson that were multi-year starters and, in the case of Nichelson, are still major contributors. Some others, like running back Ousmane Kromah, have star potential and need to level up this season. Now more than ever, Norvell needs his top guys to perform.
