FSU RECRUITING ON FIRE

Florida State football recruiting has been red-hot this summer. That looks pretty good for someone in head football coach Mike Norvell, who some think cannot recruit high school talent. The Seminoles are sitting with the 12th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

I have been a believer in Mike Norvell, and I think that 2024 was an outlier.

While I am not making excuses for him because this is Florida State football and there is a proud standard of competing for conference and national championships, this is a wake-up call that he has to do a better job in ensuring that his high school talent is more developed where he isn't heavily relying on transfers to fill starting roles.

If acquiring five-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon wasn't enough, Florida State has a chance to land other talented prospects such as four-star offensive tackle Wilson Zierer, four-star tight end Landen Miree, four-star linebacker Rodney Colton Jr., and three-star defensive end Katrell Webb.

NORVELL IS HERE TO STAY

Simply put, the mindset is easily understood: Head football coach Mike Norvell is here to stay.

He is planning for the future of the program. Highly-touted high school recruits are taking notice of how he wants to build Florida State and obtain sustainability for the long term. Everyone wants to talk about how Coach Norvell has to have so-and-so amount of games to be able to keep his job.

That is just all talk. I believe that, barring an absolute disaster (another 2-10 season would be rock bottom), Mike Norvell will be the head football coach of the Florida State Seminoles. With the hires of offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and defensive coordinator Tony White, he ensured that the foundation of the program is stabilized.

While I am not suggesting that the Seminoles will have a top-eight recruiting class, but it should be something that the fan base will be happy with.
