The mass exodus of Florida State players entering the transfer portal is underway. The Noles have had a few from the 2025 recruiting class announce their plans over the past few days. None of them have been contributors, but one guy who has been somewhat of a contributor on and off the field announced plans to enter the transfer portal.
FSU defensive back Edwin Joseph:
Next1 The Best1
— Edwin Joseph (@JosephEdwinnn) December 10, 2025
The decision will be addition by subtraction for the FSU roster. Joseph is a talented player from South Florida, but his play on the field has been very boom or bust. Joseph had his most productive season in the Garnet and Gold, but it came with a price. He has had costly penalties, blown assignments in the red zone, and displayed a lack of respect for the coaching staff and his teammates.
Most notably, his interaction with Mike Norvell during the Stanford game. His social media post after the Clemson loss, which he deleted after a few hours, are prime examples of why he wasn’t a team player and probably did more harm than good. The social media post above gives off those vibes.
I’ve mentioned several times that FSU hasn’t had a player-led team over the past two years. It’s evident because those guys didn’t play for one another, and complementary football was non-existent. No teammates were checking Joseph when he messed up on and off the field.
FSU has lots of young and talented players in the defensive secondary, and now it’s about getting those guys to step up and fill this void with good play and leadership. It’s the only way FSU will get to where it needs to be.
