Florida State football suffered its fifth loss in a disappointing game against the Clemson Tigers on Saturday night. All of the losses have been frustrating, because it’s mostly FSU beating itself more than anything else.
It’s penalties, turnovers, poor situational awareness, lack of execution, or a combination of all four. At the end of the day, it’s on the coaching staff to get the players ready to play. It’s one thing to get beaten, but to beat yourself and seemingly laugh about it on social media shortly after the game?
That will draw a different type of ire from the fans, and that’s what happened on Saturday night with FSU defensive back Edwin Joseph. The same defensive back who made a boneheaded play against Stanford and proceeded to allow a touchdown a few plays later, and then showed up Mike Norvell on the sidelines.
He made a mature statement about that situation last week, but he must have been told to do it. Here’s what he posted after the game.

We understand players have lives outside of college football, and that post could have been something outside of FSU football. However, the lack of situational awareness to post that after the game is something. It shows about the same amount of situational awareness he showed in allowing a touchdown on Saturday night that should have easily been an interception or a defended pass.
He has since deleted the post, which tells me it was likely related to the game. If it wasn't, why not say that? There were rumblings that FSU players were laughing in the locker room after the loss against Stanford. It's just one of many reasons FSU needs to make a change with this staff.
